First time ordering. Food was good. I ordered kenkey and fried fish. I asked for extra salt on the fish and the cook delivered to perfection. One minor issue and this could be due to cultural differences - I usually eat the kenkey with a tomato stew but this time, the “ stew was served raw, like a salsa. I had to cook it at home since this is how I usually eat it. Other than that I loved it. I will be going back and ask them to cook the stew :)

I have eaten at Ghanaian restaurants across DC, Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, NYC, England , Scotland, and many cities in Ghana. This is literally the most authentic and best Ghanaian food I have ever tasted. Up until discovering this place I thought I just didn’t like Ghanaian food, and I didn’t understand why. The food here made me realize I don’t hate Ghanaian food after all just that no one was cooking it well. Shout out to the chef here my goodness you have it down! Consider adding meat pie to the menu too because i have not come across anyone who can make it like it is in Ghana.

Jollof rice was nice; chicken was seasoned nicely, (but was a bit old and cold); didn’t like the plantains (too mushy).

This is my fav African restaurant. From crispy fried yam with turkey to flavorful banku with okra soup, hearty waakye with shito, fufu with rich goat pepper soup, and of course, the legendary jollof rice served with fried fish or chicken — their menu is simply irresistible. I can’t recommend these delicacies enough. Stop by and treat yourself to the authentic taste you’ll only find at this spot!!

Located in the heart of Irvington, New Jersey, Tasti Cuisine is a culinary gem that brings authentic Ghanaian flavors to the table with unmatched passion and precision. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere reflects a rich cultural heritage, amplified by the warm smiles of the staff and the soulful stories behind the menu.

The true highlight here is their signature Jollof rice—bold, fragrant, and perfectly cooked. One enthusiastic diner, Jake D., couldn’t help but admire the dish, declaring his empty plate the best endorsement of the meal’s excellence. The Jollof rice here is truly a celebration of West African tradition, with every grain infused with deep, smoky notes and a vibrant blend of spices that linger long after the last bite.

Aside from Jollof, the menu showcases a variety of Ghanaian staples that invite exploration. From crispy fried yam paired with savory turkey, to banku served alongside rich okra soup, and hearty waakye with shito sauce, each dish is crafted to offer an authentic taste experience. Foster Kofi Ayittey’s praise for the diverse and flavorful offerings echoes the sentiments of many who find this place a satisfying refuge for genuine African cuisine.

The attention to detail extends to the preparation and seasoning, evident in the perfectly salted fried fish that Corinne Shaw admired, and the tender, well-seasoned chicken that LemmaRich appreciated, despite minor critiques. Such careful tailoring to customer preferences speaks to Tasti Cuisine’s commitment to authenticity balanced with hospitality.

Perhaps most striking is how Tasti Cuisine has redefined perceptions of Ghanaian food for newcomers and veterans alike. Hillary’s account of previously dismissing the cuisine only to be won over here highlights the chef’s mastery in delivering traditional dishes with a finesse rarely found outside Ghana. This elevates Tasti Cuisine beyond a mere restaurant—it becomes a bridge connecting cultures through food.

In sum, Tasti Cuisine is more than a meal; it’s an immersive journey into Ghanaian flavors marked by quality ingredients, respectful heritage, and heartfelt execution. For anyone seeking an unpretentious yet profound taste of West Africa, this spot on 18th Avenue is a must-visit culinary destination.
